Recently, a world-renowned wildlife hero disappeared while diving off the coast of Florida. It is likely that he won’t be found alive. *UPDATE: He passed away on January 31st, 2017*. I was upset by this news - this guy played a pretty big role in inspiring my passion for wildlife conservation. His storytelling was personal and beautiful, and his documentaries Sharkwater and Revolution are trailblazing. In his memoir, Save The Humans, Rob Stewart said,
“There is simply no issue more important. Conservation is the preservation of human life on earth, and that, above all else, is worth fighting for.”
And so this is the kind of purpose I’m talking about. The premise behind One Species is simple: we are all one species on this planet. All life on Earth is interconnected. And so by fighting “animal” extinction, we fight human extinction. So this begs the question...
What greater purpose is there than saving humanity, and saving life as we know it? If you’ve got an answer to that one, call me.
One Species is about seeing the big picture - the one that we all fit into, no matter who we are or where we come from. Let’s try to be as open-minded as possible - whether you identify as an environmentalist, a republican, an investment banker, a sk8ter boy, the list goes on because it doesn’t matter. This message is for you, as much as it is for all of us.
After everything is said and done, it is the experience of LIFE (that’s l.i.f.e., the good stuff!) that unites us. This experience brings us together, to remind us that we are all fundamentally the same. We are One Species.

A lot of us seem to have this weird condition... “Selective Forgetfulness Syndrome (SFS)”. Because of SFS, we have become oblivious to things happening at home, on our planet. Wildlife is literally, visibly disappearing by the hour. 8.3 species disappear, they GO EXTINCT, every single fucking hour. Just to set the record straight, this is not normal. And the species going extinct are not just insects and plants, we’re talking rhinos, dolphins, primates, amongst countless other species.
The digital world we’re currently in, is separating us from the real one outside the window. So let’s bring you back for one moment, to Earth. Can you feel this moment?
Today, One Species is purposefully albeit somewhat erratically run by myself and a small team, as I finish up my degree. Right now, we sell cool clothing dedicated to specific endangered species. It’s all about focusing on one species at a time, and then adding individual species as time goes on. The first campaign has been dedicated to the critically endangered Southern Resident Killer Whale off of Vancouver’s coastal waters. Our partner with boots on the ground is CETUS Conservation and Research Society.
And in case you’re wondering, our next species, will be released on April 1st, 2017.
A big thanks to you, for growing with us, conserving life in all its awesomeness, and connecting with other amazing individuals around the globe! You the real MVP. And hey, get ready, it’s only the beginning of this adventure.
